Updated - MSHO Telehealth Coverage Updates

MSHO is supporting our members by creating payer resources, clarifying coding and billing requirements, inquiring with and tracking payer policies and creating a Telehealth FAQ.  If you are looking for information you cannot find, PLEASE let us know by emailing billing@msho.org.

Keeping MSHO Members Informed
On 3/17/20 Medicare announced changes to their policies related to billing of Telehealth services, relaxing rules and allowing coverage for telehealth services for patients while they are at home.  We are not sure whether the private payers are going to adopt the same guidelines but as we are inquiring and as we find out, we will update our website and make announcements to our members.

Payer Policies & Coding Information Related to Telemedicine
Not sure how to bill for the services?  Do you use a different place of service or modifier?  To make it a bit easier for our members, MSHO is providing coding guidance and tracking telehealth information by payer on the MSHO website.

Newly updated are Meridian and Aetna!

MSHO Telehealth FAQs - Updated on 4/22/20
Did you know that you can include the time it takes for the provider to prepare to see the patient or order medications or document the medical record for your telehealth E & M visits billed to Medicare when choosing the level of service?  Read the first question in the FAQ's on the website!

Are you wondering.....“Can a provider bill for a physician initiated phone call without video?” The answers are within the FAQ!

This is all happening very fast, is ever-changing, and there are many questions.  To assist our members, MSHO will be continuously updating telehealth pages and “frequently asked questions” on the MSHO website.
