- Do your patients have problems with access to oral anticancer drugs because of their high cost?

- Are you aware that many patients are required to pay a higher amount of the cost for oral drugs than for intravenous (IV) or injected anticancer treatment?

While cancer care has advanced, health plans have begun to impose significantly higher cost sharing requirements for oral treatment even when it is the most effective form of medication delivery.  This can increase overall cost of care.  A bill to provide "oral parity" would help remove this barrier.

BACKGROUND:

Please contact your Michigan (MI) Representative today and urge him or her  to support legislation to provide cancer patients in Michigan with oral chemotherapy parity!

MI Senate bill 625 was introduced by Senator Goeff Hanson to help ensure that cancer patients in Michigan can access oral cancer drugs under the same general cost sharing rules that apply to intravenous and injected anticancer drugs. S 625 was passed by the MI Senate and is now before the MI House Insurance Committee. The Michigan Society of Oncology and Hematology (MSHO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) strongly support S 625 and urge the MI House to pass it this year.

Forty-two states and the District of Columbia have already enacted oral chemotherapy parity laws.  Help make Michigan the next state to take this important step. Urge your Michigan Representative to support oral parity legislation! Thank you in advance for your help.
