Precision Medicine Oncology Symposium: From the Basics to Current Clinical Applications

Part 1

A Virtual Event

Precision medicine encompasses all approaches that use patient- and disease-specific information to prevent, diagnose, and treat a disease. The increasingly widespread use of genome sequencing and genomic profiling has significantly improved the diagnoses and treatment of oncologic diseases by identifying unique variants that can be targeted with gene-based targeted therapeutic approaches, including immunotherapies.

The series is designed to provide oncology clinicians and researchers foundational information on the latest technologies available for data acquisition, diagnosis, and decision-making for oncologic diseases.

Part 1 Topics Include

  • Explain terminology NGS, molecular testing, what does it exactly mean, how much tissue do you need?
    • Dhananjay Chitale, MD, MBA
      Henry Ford Hospital

  • Understanding the report. What resources do physicians have to get further information on the test?  Reporting test results with the patient.
    • Christine Lovly, MD, PhD
      Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center

  • Tumor Board Case Session
    • Thoracic
      • Igor Rybkin, MD, PhD
Henry Ford Cancer Institute / Henry Ford Health System
    • GI
      • Philip Philip, MD, PhD, FRCP
        Karmanos Cancer Institute
