A study from 2009 done by MGMA shows that 83% of physician offices have experienced embezzlement at some level. Are you surprised? Unfortunately, many offices that are victims of this type of theft do not prosecute. The employee is let go but there is no official filing of the theft, and the person moves on to another office and another potential victim. How can you protect your practice? "Trusted" employees should be a part of your practice model, but every employee has risk. This talk will offer tips and tools to help your office compartmentalize jobs to reduce the risk of embezzlement.
