MSHO Welcomes Carol Christner, MSA as Their New Executive Director

Carol ChristnerThe Michigan Society of Hematology & Oncology (MSHO) is pleased to introduce Carol Christner as their incoming Executive Director. The MSHO Executive Search Committee selected Carol from an impressive field of candidates. Having spent the last eight years as the Director of Government Relations for the Karmanos Cancer Institute, Carol has a strong understanding of the issues faced by MSHO members. From physician autonomy to practice alignment, Carol has worked with policy makers and regulators to protect access and best outcomes for cancer patients. In addition, her early career included association  management experience at the Michigan chapters of the American Lung Association and the American Cancer Society.

In 2006, Carol earned her Masters of Science in Administration degree from Central Michigan University. Search Committee Chair, Mohammed Ogaily, M.D., FACP indicates: “Carol will be a great fit to work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and the MSHO staff to chart a course that will promote growth in the organization and continued service to its membership.”

Carol will succeed Mary Malloy, CAE in shepherding the Society’s governance, operations, advocacy and educational needs. MSHO relationships that have been so carefully cultivated will continue to be her focus as she represents MSHO with statewide and national partners whose work impacts Michigan hematologists and oncologists, and their patients.

Effective October 6, 2014 Carol can be reached at carolc@msho.org.
