Spring Reimbursement Lunch N Learn Series Agenda

Speaker Bio:
Clara Lambert is the Director of Financial Navigation at TailorMed. To prepare for this position, she spent seven years working as a financial navigator in Michigan and Illinois hospital systems. In 2013, she helped to pioneer a nationally recognized Financial Navigation program at the Cowell Family Cancer Center in Traverse City, Michigan. In 2018, she moved to the Chicagoland area to work as a financial navigator at the Bhorade Cancer Center at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, and was asked to work with a task force to implement financial navigation technology throughout the Advocate Aurora healthcare system.

Clara has been influential in the development of the role of financial navigator at her cancer centers, hospital systems, and nationwide. She was recognized in 2019 by AONN+ (Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators) Leadership Council Award: Putting Evidence into Practice. She is the past chair of ACCC (Association of Community Cancer Centers) FAN (Financial Advocacy Network) Advisory Committee (2018-2019). She is an Active member of AONN+ and participates in the Conference Planning, Policy and Advocacy (co-chair of advocacy), and Technology Committees, as well as speaking on Financial Navigation and other topics.

Clara has a background in insurance verification, financial counseling, and many other aspects of the healthcare revenue cycle. She has always been involved in process improvement and team building activities wherever she works, as she believes highly in efficiency and building new talent through mentorship. She graduated with her Bachelors Degree in Integrated Professional Studies: Business, Healthcare Administration & Information Technology from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a non-traditional student in 2015, the same year her oldest daughter graduated with her Masters Degree.

A major part of Clara’s story is the fact that her family has been affected by cancer. This started her on the path of Financial Navigation in 2003, when she realized you can find ways to financially navigate the financial toxicity of cancer, before it was even a career. It was a dream of hers to help people after she helped her own family, and it took 10 years to make it come true. Financial toxicity is an important topic to Clara and she has been able to use her personal experiences, along with her background in healthcare to connect with the patients and caregivers to streamline the financial navigation process for everyone.
